What is the position?
Cognosante is seeking a Software Developer with demonstrable experience in DevSecOps, design, and technical leadership. The Software Developer serves as a key leader of the software development team within an Agile Release Train. Responsibilities include analyzing features, extracting use cases, and writing code to address specified requirements within user stories; guide technical discussions in daily scrum meetings, sprint backlog refinement, demonstrations, and sprint planning, testing code, and consistently drives “clean code” practices.
What will I get to do?
Analyze, design, and implement use-case centric architecture.
Collaborate with a team of developers to follow standards and best design practices.
Develop, deploy, and supports source code for UX and back-end containerized, cloud-based solutions within an Agile delivery team using DevSecOps best practices.
Work within in a variety of business systems and applications.
Design, test, debug and document software.
Analyze customer needs and develop overall concept and design objectives
What qualifications do I need?
US Citizen or Green Card residing in the USA for four (4) consecutive years able to pass a Government Background Investigation to be able to achieve and hold a moderate (Tier 2) VA position of trust.
Strong experience in a variety of software programming languages, (ideally MUMPS) with strong Java/JavaScript experience.
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required. 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
5 years of experience in the software development and high-volume enterprise systems in the following:
Frontend experience with may include: Weblink or JavaScript/TypeScript and/or testing libraries
Backend experience with may include: Rest APIs, Java Frameworks and/or Databases (SQL)
Project Management experience with: Source Code Management - (Git, GitHub, GitLab),Project Tracking (Jira, Azure Boards)
Experience in debugging, correcting errors, and refactoring code in computer programs.
Experience with reviewing code, providing meaningful feedback, and managing Pull Requests.
Experience with Object Oriented design principles.
Experience with unit and integration testing.
What additional characteristics will help me thrive?
Experience working with the Federal Government
Veteran's Administration (VA) experience strongly preferred, including VistA and FileMan
Knowledge of VA OIT policies and standards
Familiarity with hierarchical databases
Active clearance for Public Trust Position
Experience with UX design
AWS and/or Azure Solution Architect, Red Hat Engineer/Architect, or similar certifications
Experience with 508 Compliance (Web Accessibility) development and implementation

Compensation
$113,927.72 - $187,981.83
The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. The estimate displayed represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Cognosante’s total compensation package for employees.
