What is the position?
4D Tech Solutions, a Cognosante company, is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer with 1-3 years' experience in software, computer engineering, or related disciplines, to participate on a multidisciplinary product development team. 4D is seeking individuals interested in the design, development and commercialization of unmanned vehicle systems and LiDAR sensor systems for unmanned vehicle systems. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of skills and experience including graphical user interface development, embedded software development, system test and evaluation, and technical writing and project reporting. Interested candidates must be able to adapt to the current projects needs and must be able to fill multiple engineering roles.
What will I get to do?
Embedded software development, system integration, and test and evaluation
Development of graphical user interfaces for unmanned vehicles and LiDAR sensor systems.
Troubleshooting and debugging of existing software
Software development project planning and estimation
Creation of software design descriptions (SDD)
What qualifications do I need?
US Citizen able to obtain and hold a Secret DoD Clearance
B.S. or higher in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering or a similar degree.
1-3 years' experience in embedded software , design/development, computer engineering, or related disciplines such as robotics or research & development
Experience in C, C++ or Python programming language.
Must be able to work onsite at 4D Tech Solutions, 401 10th Street, Fairmont WV 26554.

What additional characteristics will help me thrive?
Proficient in C/C++ programming language
Experience with Python or another scripting language.
Experience with embedded Linux development (PetaLinux/Raspberry Pi, etc.)
Experience integrating, testing, and troubleshooting embedded systems.
Excellent writing and communications skills.
Proficient in electronics design and EDA software such as KiCad, Circuit Studio, Eagle, or others.
Experience developing graphical user interfaces (control stations for unmanned systems).
Familiar with optics, lasers, and LADAR systems.
Experience with Xilinx Zynq architecture.
Familiar with Qt or another cross-platform user-interface toolkit.
Experience in operating unmanned systems (FAA Part 107 certification a plus).
Familiar with mechanical design and applicable software (i.e. OnShape)
Understanding of basic GIS/surveying concepts such as control points, coordinate systems, and digital elevation models.
5+ Industrial experience preferred.

Compensation
$60,422.60 - $90,633.90
The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. The estimate displayed represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Cognosante’s total compensation package for employees.
